“It is written.” A short sentence, comprised of three words, speaks volumes on the authority of God’s word. “Thus sayeth the Lord” is the firm foundation. The Holy Spirit led the LORD Jesus into the wilderness to undergo a time of temptation. The devil issued temptations; Jesus, standing upon his convictions, relied on scripture for protection. “It is written.”

In essence, He said within sacred writings we anchor our faith in the Father.

1. We need more than physical nourishment to preserve life, that the word of God sustains life.
2. We should not test the limits of providence and protection, testing the LORD.
3. We must resist Satan and worship God alone.

“Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and him only you shall serve.’ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him (Matthew 4:10-11 NKJ).”
